SUMMARY:Working with Challenging Patients & Families: Maximizing Your Clinical Effectiveness
DESCRIPTION:Workshop offered by The REACH Institute:\nBehavioral health concerns\, including poor medication adherence\, vague health complaints\, and even explicit psychiatric conditions are very common challenges within health care settings\, yet many patients and/or caregivers do not reliably report such concerns to their medical care providers\, and may even seem resistant to physician interventions.  Even when patients or parents report concerns and receive referrals for mental health services\, nearly 40% of such referrals are never completed. \nPrimary care providers and medical specialty providers face special challenges engaging the patients and families when emotional and behavioral difficulties are present.  Learning new strategies to work with difficult-to-treat patients will enhance your clinical effectiveness\, improve your patient outcomes\, decrease unnecessary medical procedures\, and reduce your costs of care. \nUsing evidence-based\, hands-on training strategies with many opportunities for observation and practice\, this workshop will give physicians and other health care providers enhanced skills and confidence working with challenging patients and families with behavioral health concerns.  Small group exercises will be co-facilitated by mental health and primary care clinicians experienced in clinician training. Learners will learn new\, effective methods to build patient trust and engagement\, and enlist challenging patients and families as partners in their care and treatment. \nJoin this unique opportunity to maximize your clinical outcomes with difficult-to-treat patients and families. \nCost:               $200 includes breakfast andlunch \nRegister:         https://www.flipcause.com/widget/widget_home/NDQyMDE= \nQuestions?       Contact Lisa Hunter Romanelli\,Ph.D. lisa@thereachinstitute.org \nCME Accreditation \nIn support of improving patient care\, this activity has been planned and implemented by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and The REACH Institute.  University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)\, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)\, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. \nDesignation \nThe University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. \n
